Mrs. Jennifer Chin-Sinn

I’d like to welcome you to the 2016-2017 school season here at St. Francis of Assisi School. I hope you are all are well rested and ready for the new school year. I am looking forward to being your child’s teacher this year and to getting to know all of you.

Entering junior high, there will be many changes and adjustments to be made as the students acclimate to their new schedules, classes, and teachers. As we further prepare them for the future and for high school, we will be working on skills such as being organized and responsible. I expect the best from my students and I will show great encouragement for every new step they take. I expect all of my students to put their best efforts into their work as well as their behavior, being on time for class each day, prepared with notebooks, calculators, and supplies, to study for tests, and to participate in class.

I look forward to this year. I know together we will make it a successful one.

6th Grade ELA Summer Assignment

dbooks SummerReading Grade6

Dear 6th graders and families,

I am delighted to be your ELA teacher for your next year here at Saint Francis of Assisi. You are entering the final stage of your SFA years – middle school. These years are very important because how you do here will affect the choices you make for high school. So let’s make the most out of all these classes have to offer.

Over the summer, I want you to read three books – two that are fiction and one that is nonfiction (not a biography or autobiography). Choose from the list of suggested authors and book titles here. Books must be more than 100 pages and every 150 pages counts as one book. Please feel free to read more.

If you have any question about a title, or if you want to get permission to use a title that is not on the list, email me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and I’ll let you know.
